Synthesis and Rheological Properties of Magnetic Chitosan Hydrogel

The aim of the present work is first to synthesis a magnetic chitosan hydrogel (chitosan ferrogel) using blending method and second study it rheological behavior. Magnetic components ( maghemite particles γ-Fe2O3 ) were synthesized via simple chemical co-precipitation route also called Massart's procedure. Before being dispersed in network, covered with cationic polyelectrolyte (Polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride; PDADMAC) exact quantity required cover entire surface was determined by Electrophoretic mobility. successful functionalization confirmed zeta potential measurement. prepared ferrogel gelified glyoxal as crosslinking agent. effect continuous field on properties elaborated studied, under controlled temperature before after gelation process, rotating rheometer fitted new magneto-rheological cell. Moreover influence iron oxide content time studied comparing two ferrogels different content. Flow viscoelastic measurements showed that applying facilitates formation structure (column-like arrangements), which situ optical microscopic observation. Kinetic investigated mechanical spectroscopy demonstrates depends both oxides field.
